RCMP 150th Anniversary Commemorative Plate
Bonnie Saunders is very honoured to make this special commemorative plate available!
2023 marks the 150th anniversary of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), from its initial roots in the formation of the North-West Mounted Police in 1873 to the present-day police service. This is a significant moment for both the RCMP and our country as the 156-year old story of Canada cannot be told without the 150-year contribution of the RCMP.
May 23, 1873 is recognized as the birth date of the organization, through an Act of Parliament to establish “a Mounted Police Force for the North-West Territories” after the transfer in 1870 of the former Rupert’s Land from the Hudson’s Bay Company. The organization became the RCMP in 1920 through the amalgamation of the Dominion Police and the Royal North-West Mounted Police.
We are proud to be Canada’s national police service with foundations in the contribution of our cherished veterans and the commitment of more than 30,000 active RCMP employees in all Provinces and Territories with approximately 700 service points in more than 150 municipalities, 600 Indigenous communities, three international airports and beyond our borders through international policing and peacekeeping.
The RCMP is an iconic Canadian institution, recognized around the world through the image of a Mountie in the Red Serge uniform. The 150th anniversary will be a chance to reflect on our rich history, to recognize the service and contribution of all RCMP employees, and our role in maintaining the safety of our communities and the security of our country.
When the visual identity for the RCMP’s 150th anniversary is applied in a range of ways throughout 2023, it is a reflection of that history and the work being done on the path to becoming a more modern, diverse, inclusive and trusted policing organization.

PROUDLY PRODUCED IN CANADA!
Each RCMP 150th Anniversary Commemorative Plate begins as a clear glass plate which becomes transformed into an exceptional, high quality keepsake. With many complex steps from start to finish, the creation process poses a high degree of difficulty. The delicate procedures result in the brilliantly rich crackle which receives and illuminates light and provides a unique element of depth to each piece. These remarkable heirlooms are rendered individually by Bonnie, with all processes administered on the backside of the glass.
Each 8" plate is framed in a black, 11"open faced solid wood shadow box lined with red ultra suede. Two custom engraved black plaques which sit on the frame add a personalized touch to these mementos, which can be either wall mounted or displayed on a stand. Included is a Certificate of Authenticity (bilingual if required) that is signed by Bonnie Saunders and applied to the backside of the frame. This certificate contains a brief description of the mission of the proud members who wear the badge or crest that is featured on the front of the plate. This is a great added feature for future generations to appreciate.
FOR THE PERSONALIZED ENGRAVED PLAQUES THAT SIT ON THE FRAME:
Bonnie recommends highlighting the rank/regimental number and name of the recipient on the smaller plaque. The second, larger engraved plaque provides an opportunity to include 3 additional sentences to better commemorate an occasion or words of choice. This is very important, as it will pass on historical details for future generations. There is a 60 character maximum for each sentence. Bonnie is happy to help you so the wording is perfect for the occasion. There is also a suggested engraved plaque that commemorates this historical milestone of 150 years for the RCMP. You decide what works best for you.

"Thank you for your attention and quick response to my requests for my son's retirement gift. It now hangs on the "Wall of Honour". "
"I bought a plate for my son’s graduation. It is truly a work of art and he really appreciated it. He especially liked the fact that his name and regimental number were on the frame. Bonnie was very helpful throughout the whole process and it was a pleasure to deal with her. She even called after the graduation to see if it had arrived safely and on time. I had the plate sent right to Depot so he would receive it on his graduation day and it worked beautifully. Thanks again Bonnie!"
"Good day Bonnie, I received a plate from Mike Rude for my dad. I had a little gathering for him. He completed 36 years RCMP K Division, Staff Sgt upon retiring. You made my father very happy!"
"Hi Bonnie, We had a great time at the retirement party! My sister appreciated the RCMP Crest Plate and thankfully, no one else gave her anything that was remotely close to it! In fact there were many RCMP members commenting on it and inquiring where I got it done so I passed your name and email address on to them. Thanks again Bonnie and I most certainly will keep you in mind if I or anyone I know is thinking of a more personal gift like this."
We made it to our son's graduation and it was an amazing weekend! We were able to surprise him with it, and he loved it! Thx so much!
